Here we have a delightful ladies sterling silver compact dated 8th Dec 1909 with a beautiful tortoiseshell & silver pique work lid; made by Henry Matthews and assayed Birmingham 1908. The hinge is undamaged, the silver inlay is all intact and none has lifted, there are some very minor dints to the body. The compact still has the original powder puff and surround, is fully hallmarked on the base and has the Lion Passant mark on the lid.
