ANTIQUE PORCELAIN & STERLING SILVER MOUNTED COFFEE POT 1893

SOLD

A fine quality and attractive late 19th century porcelain coffee pot with silver lid and mounts and a silver and turned ivory finial. The silver mounts and lid are highly decorative and the upper part of the coffee pot and spout has a twisted ribbed design.

Overall the coffee pot is in very good condition but it does need a couple of small repairs to bring it back to first-rate condition: The top half of the wicker work around the handle is missing and the handle has come away from the top silver mount; but if repaired carefully no damage will be noticeable (see enlarged photos below). There are no chips or hairline cracks to the porcelain and the lid and hinge are in perfect condition.

The coffee pot is about 7½" (19cm) tall, 7½" (19cm) wide (from handle to spout) and weighs 1lb 9ozs (709g). The pot is hallmarked on both mounts and the lid and the base has the early Crown Staffordshire backstamp and an 1891 Registered Design number (179250). A great collectors piece.
