This beautifully hand painted fan has Chinese figures with ivory faces, on one side, no doubt telling a story, the other a lovely scene of butterflies, fruit and flowers,  both sides are surrounded by a floral border. The lacquered wooden sticks and guards (16 in total) are in excellent condition with no loss of gilded decoration or damage and are held together by what looks like a brass and mother of pearl rivet. The fan is about 21.5" (54.5cm) across when open and 11.5" (29.5cm) long when closed.
